The impact of firm based organizational citizenship behavior on continuance and normative commitment among pharmaceutical executives: An SEM approach

Aim/purpose – The study was based on social exchange theory and addressed the effects of firm-based organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) normative con- tinuance commitment (OC). Multigroup behavioral differences among pharmaceutical executives were also evaluated. Design/methodology/approach This employed an empirical, explanatory cross- -sectional with online questionnaires administered to four hundred one randomly selected in Nigeria. covariance-based structural equation modeling technique used for testing hypotheses. Firm-based OCB domains conscientiousness, sportsmanship, civic virtue regressed OC continuance, normative. hypothesized examined using Analysis Moment Structures (AMOS). Findings model had acceptable fit measures. Conscientiousness sportsmanship behaviors negatively related while a positive significant relationship OC. comparisons gender, profession, type organization revealed relations between Employees highly vested enhancing representing their company’s image, tend be more obligated continue remain organization. self-directed, less-complaining employees are, lower tendency nuances group impact relationships. Research implications Human resource managers should adequately stimulate motivate ambassadors is achievable by instil- ling sense ownership loyalty employees. Further are discussed.
